B & W photo taken during Salvation Army week in May 1970. As part of the celebration and media promotion the Southern California Division mounted an Art Exhibit in the Los Angeles Congress Hall Corps building. One of the photos shows the then Captain Barbara Hood holding a picture of an artist's rendition of the ministry of The Salvation Army being based on LOVE and from these "roots" significant ministries grew. This picture was published in The New York Times. Added to the Art Exhibit was a reference to our History and thus the women officers were wearing historical uniforms (information was provided by Commissioner Robert F. Saunders). Seen in period uniforms from left to right: Captain Barbara Hood, DHQ; Captain Shirley Goode, DHQ; Captain Carol Saunders, Congress Hall Corps; Captain Gwen Luttrell, Manhattan Project. |
