14. A letter sent by Lauritz Martinus Simonsen, an officer in the early Salvation Army, to fellow officer Brigadier Marcussen. He details his childhood and his desire to be a sailor, and his travels around the world while working on ships as a young man. He explains how he came to find the Salvation Army and became an officer, serving in multiple locations in the modern-day Western Territory, including the Bay Area in California as well as Washington and Hawaii. In many of these locations, he was attacked by hostile criminals. Toward the end of the letter, he notes his most recent position, as a divisional commander for the New Jersey division. - 0
