Henry Wemme White Shield Home and The Salvation Army White Shield Home & Hospital under single management was announced by Lt. Commissioner Donald McMillan, Territorial Commander. The purpose of the merger was to meet the increasing need for the service supplied by the homes and at the same time effect economy in management. The take over by The Salvation Army over operation of the Wemme Home was at the specific request of the Henry Wemme estate.
