Donald McMillan obituary in the Daily News newspaper, Thursday, December 4,1969. A formal Service Program in Memory of Commissioner Donald McMillan was also printed. The services were held December 5, 1969 at the Centennial Memorial Temple. The New York Staff Band and Male Chorus attended and played the Preliminary Music. Donald McMillan, national commander of the Salvation Army in the United States from 1953 to 1957, died in the army's Booth Memorial Hospital, Flushing, Queens. Commander McMillan had served 51 years as a commissioned officer in the Salvation Army. McMillan was born in Englad June 8, 1887, he son of a Salvation Army pioneer. He was commissione in July 1906 at the New York School for Officers' Training and first served in the New York Herald Square Corps. |
